Langford & Chamberlayne were recommended to Whitegrove Primary School and asked to quote for the supply and installation of a new Bespoke Servery Counter to replace their existing counter, along with supplying and installing a new electric shutter.

On the initial site visit it was evident why the old servery needed replacing. The hot cupboard did not work, the top surface was flat and heated only by a gantry and there was no space to serve/display chilled dishes. In addition, they had a very old split shutter that came down on to the servery counter that was unattractive and reduced the space available on the counter.

In discussions with the Catering Manager and the School Business Manager, it was decided that they ideally needed 5 x 1/1 dry heat wells with a quartz heated gantry / sneeze screen over, with a large hot cupboard under. They also required a 2 x 1/1 refrigerated well with a fluorescent lighted gantry above with matching sneeze screen. Finally, access through the servery to the school hall was necessary.

Langford and Chamberlayne came up with a design for the new servery and the school chose a suitable colour for the new full length electric shutter.

The new servery was made bespoke from good quality 304 grade stainless steel that has high corrosion resistance and long durability. The removal of the old servery and the installation of the new went smoothly and after a slight alteration to the electrical supply, the new servery was in operation.

The Catering Manager has now been able to increase the choice of the food being offered and has improved the quality of the food on show.

“Guy at Langford and Chamberlayne was recommended to me by another school. From the initial contact to the measurement and ordering process, Guy was knowledgeable, super-efficient and made the whole process very easy. I had little understanding of what I needed and Guy was very helpful and explained the whole procedure. The installation process was smooth and pain free and all communication was excellent. The finished result is beyond our expectations and we are very pleased and would highly recommend Langford and Chamberlayne without hesitation”.
